Amadeo Peter (A. P.) Giannini founded the Bank of Italy in 1904, a bank that soon extended its activities from San Francisco to serve agriculture and agricultural communities throughout California. The Bank of Italy would later morph into the Bank of America.
Includes retrospectives on the A.P. Giannini’s generous gift of $1.5 million in 1928 for the construction of Giannini Hall on the Berkeley campus and for funding the University-wide Giannini Foundation of Agricultural Economics. Contains major papers documenting the gift and the contributions of Foundation activities to the agricultural and applied economics profession.
